Equine Cushing’s Disease

Equine Cushing’s Disease (ECD), also known as PPID (Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction), is the most important hormonal disease in older horses and ponies (> 15 years) and is diagnosed increasingly often. It is believed that in Germany there are currently more than 45,000 horses suffering from the disease. ECD is a chronic progressive disease and cannot be cured.
